What it is
How TAKECOAT-1000 protects the joint.
01Two layers, one systemTAKECOAT-1000 is built up in two layers of fluorocarbon polymer. Together they form a closed barrier that keeps water, salt and chemicals away from the steel.
02Long corrosion lifeRated for at least 6.000 hours in ASTM B117 salt spray before red rust – the longest of the coatings we supply.
03Wide temperature rangeContinuous use from −196 °C to +200 °C, so the same coating covers cold and warm flange service within that range.

01Offshore and splash zoneFlange bolting exposed to sea water and salt spray, where replacing corroded studs is expensive.
02Long maintenance intervalsJoints that must open cleanly after years in service, for example at a planned shutdown.
03Cold and warm serviceJoints running anywhere between −196 °C and +200 °C.

FAQ
Questions we get about TAKECOAT-1000.
- Why is it better than Xylan?
- It is a two-layer system with a thicker total film (32–45 µm) and is rated for at least 6.000 hours before red rust. Xylan results depend on grade, pretreatment and thickness.
- Which studs can be coated?
- Stud bolts, bolts and nuts. Tell us grade and size and we confirm.
- Do I need a different torque?
- Yes. Any low-friction coating changes the relation between torque and preload – use values for the coated condition, never for bare or oiled steel.
- Why only from HBS?
- HBS is Europe’s only authorized supplier of TAKECOAT-1000.
