DIN 9021 – Plain washers, large outer diameter
Dimensions, materials and applications – with the ISO counterpart ISO 7093-1.
DIN 9021 specifies plain washers with a large outer diameter – about three times the thread diameter. The wide bearing face spreads the clamping load over a larger area, which protects thin sheet, soft materials and oversized or slotted holes.
The ISO counterpart is ISO 7093-1 (product grade A). Some dimensions were changed, and ISO 7093 only has hardness classes 200 HV and 300 HV. As an example, a DIN 9021 washer for M10 has an inner diameter of 10.5 mm, an outer diameter of 30 mm and a thickness of 2.5 mm.
We supply DIN 9021 washers from M2.5 to M36 in steel 200 HV and in stainless A2 and A4; stainless sizes up to M12 are also available EPK-treated. For bolts of property class 10.9 and higher, choose a 300 HV washer instead. Where the hole is standard and the load is high, a DIN 125-A washer with its smaller outer diameter is often the better choice.
Applications
- Sheet metal, panels and cladding
- Slotted or oversized holes
- Soft materials such as plastics, wood and aluminium
- Cleanroom and vacuum equipment in A2 or A4 with EPK treatment

Questions about DIN 9021.
- What is the outer diameter of a DIN 9021 washer?
- About three times the thread diameter. For M10: 30 mm outer diameter, 10.5 mm inner diameter, 2.5 mm thick. The datasheet lists all sizes from M2.5 to M36.
- Can DIN 9021 washers be used with 10.9 bolts?
- Use washers of at least 200 HV with property class 8.8 and higher. For 10.9 joints we recommend a 300 HV washer – available as DIN 125-A in 300 HV.
- What is DIN 9021?
- DIN 9021 is the standard for plain washers, large outer diameter (DIN 9021 · outer diameter ≈ 3 × d · comparable to ISO 7093). HBS Solutions supplies DIN 9021 washers from stock, with EN 10204 3.1 / 3.2 certificates.
- Which sizes does DIN 9021 cover?
- The HBS datasheet lists DIN 9021 from 2.7 mm to 39 mm. The full dimension table is on this page and in the free PDF datasheet.
- Which related standard corresponds to DIN 9021?
- DIN 9021 · outer diameter ≈ 3 × d · comparable to ISO 7093.
- How do I order DIN 9021 washers?
- Configure the part online or send your parts list through the quote form; HBS Solutions replies with a quotation within 24 hours. Stock items ship from 500.000+ pieces in stock in Almere, the Netherlands.
